The Two Covenants

two covenants murrayThe Two Covenants

Andrew Murray

This book by Andrew Murray is an absolute "MUST READ" for anyone struggling with issues concerning the Christian or Hebrew Roots/Messianic faith, and their uneasiness with the perspective or practices of either. While this book does not examine the Old Testament Covenant from a Hebrew Roots or Messianic perspective, written as it was in 1898, it does get the focus of the covenants, New and Old back on God, and what He was working out through them.

As you read, you will be unable to argue that this study is not direct from God, to put all who read it back on the straight course gthat God intended. He discusses the reasons for why there were two covenants. He discusses what the Old Covenant was purposed to do and why it was instituted. He then shows why and how the New Covenant supercedes all other covenants, and finds its ultimate fulfillment in Christ. He goes even further and clarifies why it is, was, and always will be, by faith that we receive every blessing that is ours through our Covenant, Jesus Christ our Lord.

If you are coming to this from a Christian background, it will get you established on some home truths about why your are not enjoying the blessings that are so abundantly ours in Christ. Spoiler alert: it is because we have rejected the reality and truth concerning the Law of God as pertinent to our life and faith. If you are coming to this from a Jewish/Messianic perspective, it will help you understand why the Old Covenant has been completely satisfied in Him, and that only life lived according to and by the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit, as well as in complete dependence upon Him is acceptable to God. And regardless of which direction you come, it will help anyone who truly desires the truth for their life, and is willing to abandon their preconceived or entrenched biases, you will definitely get yourself established on the Way God intended through His Spirit.

One final thing. Andrew Murray speaks of something called "The Second Blessing." I know what this is, having experienced it myself. And it isn't what we familiarly call 'the baptism of the Holy Spirit.' He speaks with the knowledge of one who has taken hold of this truth for his own life, presents testimony from others who have done likewise, and explains something of what it is. It is my heartfelt prayer that if this is not the truth for your own life, that yhou will seek God with all you have and are, with every fiber of your being, to take hold of it. That's because I am firmly convinced, not only is that the key to all things of God, without it, we will all eventually perish, saint and sinner alike, for we will have no anchor to hold us fast in the days to come.

Please read this book. It will change your life.
